As
this is the first time a message is preached from this brand new pulpit, I pray
that faith will be preached from this pulpit (prayer dedicating the Procson Arc pulpit from Sydney).
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed
and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that
those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things
you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Mark 11:23-24 (NKJV)
I
walked 22 years with this Scripture in my heart. Through these years of walking
with the Lord, I know this scripture is true, my heart knows it. Faith begins in our heart, to believe in
the heart. The Bible tells us that if we have doubt in our heart, we get
nothing, but believe and you will get things done (Mat 21:21,22).
What do we need to do?
First,
we must know that it is God’s Will that we shall have what we asked
for. However, many times we prayed
and we do not get what we’d wanted.
It is because we asked not in accordance with the Will of God. I had a
young lady who asked me to pray for her boyfriend because he had married the
wrong girl, she said. I refused because
that was not according to the Will of God, I said to her that I would not pray
for her desire to covet another’s husband but said to her that I would
pray for her forgiveness and pray with her to bless that man and his wife to
have a strong and happy marriage.
Thus,
when we ask, when we pray, we must first of all look into our heart and ask God
whether it is according to His truth, His Will. We must read the Bible to know the truth
so that if we believe the truth in our heart, the Holy Spirit will help us to
ask according to His Will and we will have what we asked for.
Secondly,
we must know that the devil is right there speaking to our mind things contrary
to the truth or put doubt in our mind, questioning the truth. We must say no to the devil and we must
not entertain such thought. The enemy
wars on our mind, seeking to create doubt and unbelief in our mind. Therefore, we must establish our faith
by resisting against the devil, keep our mind in control, into captivity to the
obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:1-5).
Thirdly,
when God has spoken His Word, or revealed His Will, then we know that what we
asked will come to pass. The devil
will say to us, no, you can’t do that, no, you won’t be able to do
that; to put doubt in our mind. But
if God has spoken to your heart, hold fast to that belief. God spoke to Paul that He would go to
Rome (Acts 23:11), but the voyage to Rome was hit by storm and shipwreck. The people were frightened but Paul
assured them that beside the ship, there would be no loss of life. He said to them, “For there stood by me this night an angel of
the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you
must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who
sail with you.' Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be
just as it was told me.” Acts 27:23-25(NKJV)
The
devil would do anything to stop you from doing God’s Will. However if you have the Word of God, we
know His Will. If we keep our faith
and believe His Word, all we asked will come to pass. Faith comes by hearing
and hearing by the Word of God (Rom 10:17). I know who is speaking and I have chosen
to believe in God and His Word and will not allow the devil to come in to
snatch away from me what I believed.
I know my prayer will be answered.
